2022 Weiherberg Pinot Noir

Dark cherry on light limestone.

Even the aroma is like opening a ripe black cherry between your fingers: juicy, dark, and full of freshness. Blackberry and cassis are added, along with cool herbs, a hint of mocha, and a delicate roasted spice. On the palate, the fruit is dense and velvety, but the delicate cherry skin gives it a fine grip. A salty, stony trace keeps the fruit in balance and gives the wine its cool, elegant length.

The heavy, iron-rich soil gives the wine power. At the same time, wind and cool nights on the high plateau preserve its freshness. This creates a Spätburgunder that tastes ripe and full-bodied, but never heavy.
