2023 Kirchberg Chardonnay

Stone meets fruit. Power meets freshness.

You can imagine this Chardonnay like a warm summer's day when a cool breeze suddenly picks up in the evening. First come juicy yellow fruits and a subtle "Knallplättchen" reduction. After that, the wine becomes clearer, fresher, and almost salty - as if you were running your hand over sun-warmed limestone.

This is exactly what we work for in the vineyard. Old vines root deep in the calcareous loess soils and produce only a few grapes. The cool nights in Kirchberg preserve the freshness, while the long ripening allows fine aromas to develop. The wine is spontaneously fermented in barriques and allowed to mature on the lees for twelve months. This makes it complex and profound, without losing its lightness.
